  • Example: The word ضيف (“Dayf”) contains a Ya Leen, where the Fathah (the short ‘a’) precedes the silent “Ya” (ي).
  • Definition: A “Ya” (ي) that carries one of the vowel marks: either a Fathah (َ ), Kasrah (ِ ), or Dammah (ُ).
